nu-Eden: Sundered Skies
//Westin Marriott
Westin Marriott
"Equilibrium isn't peace. It's tension — managed perfectly."
▸Backstory
Once the chief architect of military equilibrium algorithms, Westin sealed himself inside his own prototype to correct the war — and found perfect balance in never blinking. A modular armoured frame with constantly adjusting parts and a digital gyroscope embedded in his chest.
▸Personality
Westin is quiet in the way that load-bearing walls are quiet — you don't notice until you remove them and everything collapses. He observes. He calculates. He applies the minimum necessary intervention to maintain perfect equilibrium, and he does it so seamlessly that people sometimes forget he's there.
This suits him. Westin does not seek attention, credit, or recognition. He seeks balance — in combat, in team dynamics, in the structural integrity of every engagement Dynaxis undertakes. His equilibrium algorithms were designed for military application, and when no one else could make them work, he became the hardware.
Off-duty, he plays chess (against Xenia, who also plays; their games are legendary within Dynaxis for lasting hours) and does woodworking — careful, measured creation that produces something solid and real. In a life dominated by algorithms and dynamic forces, working with wood keeps him grounded.
His powers require extreme mental concentration. Extended use produces fatigue that he manages through discipline and stubbornness in roughly equal measure.
▸Appearance
Inspired by Master Chief (Halo) and Mister Freeze's sealed-suit severity (DC), Westin's design prioritizes engineered stability over visible humanity.
Westin's design is mechanical equilibrium — modular armour, constantly micro-adjusting components, and the geometric precision of someone who is, functionally, his own machine.
- ▪Hair: Brown, kept regulation-short, military-issue practical
- ▪Eyes: Hazel, steady, very rarely blinking — not a metaphor, a literal consequence of his modification
- ▪Build: Broad and solid, augmented by the modular armoured frame he sealed himself into
- ▪Outfit: The prototype itself — a full-body exo-frame with modular plates that shift and rebalance constantly, a visible digital gyroscope housing in the chest, hydraulic micro-adjusters at every joint, interface ports along the forearms
- ▪Color Palette: Industrial grey, equilibrium blue, hydraulic orange accents — engineered, not designed
- ▪Distinguishing feature: He is perfectly still. Not unnaturally still — perfectly still. No fidgeting, no unconscious movement. Every adjustment is calculated. It is deeply unnerving upon first meeting.
▸Relationships
| Character | Relation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Venla Linjama | Co-officer | Venla redirects; Westin balances. Their tactical synergy is the foundation Dynaxis is built on. |
| Xenia Balan | Subordinate | Chess partners. Hours-long games. Neither has a definitive win record. |
| Yuichi Saito | Subordinate | Yuichi's aerial dynamism is the extreme Westin's equilibrium was designed to stabilise. |
| Zaidan Reza Habchi | Subordinate | Zaidan's z-space instability is the hardest variable for Westin to balance. He considers it a professional challenge. |
▸Abilities
Passive — Force Resolver
Automatically generates opposing force vectors. Negates the first CC or knockback every 15s. While under two or more status effects, gains +20% resistance.
Tactical (1) — Wavebind
Locks onto an ally or enemy. All incoming force is mirrored for 5s. Damage taken becomes stored and redirected when released.
Core (2) — Weighted Line
Creates a tethered line between two allies/enemies. Any force is evenly split. Recasting swaps tether ends.
Special (3) — Warden Core
Drops a field that stabilises physics. Cancels all AoE and CC effects inside. Allies gain constant healing and resistance.
Ultimate (4) — w-Balance
For 8s, Westin becomes immune to displacement, debuffs, and critical hits. Abilities apply echoed secondary effects. Ends with a blast that heals allies and silences enemies.
▸Trivia
- ▪Name origin: Named after two hotel chains — Westin and Marriott. The naming convention is a running in-joke, and Westin is entirely aware of it. He has no opinion. (He does. He finds it amusing. He won't say so.)
- ▪"Fulcra" is the plural of "fulcrum" — the fixed point on which a lever pivots. Earlier aliases included "Protocyte" and "Zenith."
- ▪Sealed himself inside his own prototype — this isn't metaphor. The modular frame is now part of his body. He can't remove it. He didn't design it to be removable.
- ▪Birthday: March 14 (Pi Day) — appropriate for a character whose entire existence is mathematical precision.
- ▪Chess with Xenia is Dynaxis's internal sport. The rest of the team tracks the ongoing series. Current score is classified.
▸Goals
- ▪Maintain equilibrium — in every dimension, every engagement, every interaction. Balance is not a state; it's a practice.
- ▪Solve the fatigue problem — his powers require concentration that has a cost. The cost is increasing. He's engineering countermeasures.
- ▪Beat Xenia at chess — or rather, establish a statistically meaningful winning record. The current series is... ongoing.
- ▪Complete the frame — the modular armour he wears is a prototype. It was never finished. Westin is still building himself, one adjustment at a time.
