//Classes — Combat Roles
This article provides an in-depth look at Classes in nu-Eden. Classes define the fundamental role an operative plays within their team, ensuring balanced compositions and clear strategic expectations during combat. While Types determine elemental matchups, Classes determine the operative's purpose on the battlefield.
▸The Role of Classes
In a five-person team (like Fenrir or Avanza), choosing a balanced lineup is critical. Each class is optimized for specific tasks: engagement, area denial, sustenance, or assassination.
▸Every Class Explained
Detailed descriptions of the primary combat roles in nu-Eden:
- ▪Assassin: Highly mobile and lethal. They specialize in isolating vulnerable targets and securing quick eliminations. Equivalent to a "Duelist," but with a heavier emphasis on stealth.
- ▪Bulwark: High-health and high-armor characters. Their job is to draw fire and anchor the frontline. Equivalent to "Tanks."
- ▪Controller: Area denial specialists. They use walls, smokes, or traps to dictate the movement of enemy teams.
- ▪Destroyer: High-impact area-of-effect (AoE) damage dealers. They excel at breaking through fortified positions and softening multiple enemies at once.
- ▪Escapist: Masters of movement and evasion. While low on direct damage, they are nearly impossible to catch and excel at distracting the enemy team.
- ▪Fighter: Versatile, front-line combatants who balance offense and defense. They are the core of most engagements.
- ▪Lancer: High-speed, high-penetration operatives. They specialize in "poking" from mid-range and disrupting formations with rapid charges.
- ▪Marksman: Long-range precision specialists. They rely on line-of-sight and high-velocity projectiles to eliminate targets before they can close the gap.
- ▪Recon: Information is power. Recon units use sensors, drones, or scouting abilities to reveal enemy positions and utility.
- ▪Sentinel: Back-line defenders who excel at locking down areas they already control. They are "Defensive Controllers" who punish enemy pushes.
- ▪Triage: Sustain and medicinal support. They keep the team fighting through heals, cleanses, and temporary shields.
- ▪Vandal: Experts in sabotage and utility disruption. They focus on disabling enemy equipment and creating openings for heavier units.
▸Team Composition
A standard nERF team typically features:
- ▪1 Frontline (Fighter, Bulwark, or Lancer)
- ▪1 Controller / Sentinel
- ▪1 Support (Triage or Recon)
- ▪2 Offensive Flex (Assassin, Destroyer, Marksman, or Vandal)
