"You can't hit what doesn't render."

Backstory

A former traceur turned ghost code courier. Zaidan flickered out of the system during a job gone wrong — and came back untraceable, unreadable, and unstoppable. His code is unstable in the real world, making him naturally evasive. His brother Fairuz bin Omar serves on Spektra.

Personality

Zaidan is charisma in motion — the teammate who walks into a briefing late, grins at everyone, and somehow makes it feel like the meeting just started. He is outgoing, warm, and projects a casual ease that makes people underestimate how much he's actually processing.

Beneath the charm, he's thoughtful and introspective. The z-axis isn't just his combat domain; it's his headspace. Zaidan thinks in depth — layers of meaning, hidden dimensions, the space behind the space. He's a skilled artist off-duty, and his sketches reveal what his personality hides: a quiet, reflective mind that sees the world in parallax.

He joined Dynaxis out of a desire for adventure, and he found something he didn't expect — purpose. The ghost code incident that made him untraceable also made him indispensable. He's still deciding how he feels about that.

Mild headaches follow extended z-space use. He doesn't mention them.

Appearance

Inspired by Faith Connors (Mirror's Edge) and the axis-driven visual language of Blender, Zaidan's appearance turns parkour motion into a depth glitch.

Zaidan's design is depth-shifted — layers of translucency, z-fighting visual artifacts, and the impression of someone who isn't quite fully rendered.

  • Hair: Dark, textured, with a faint z-buffer shimmer at the edges — like a rendering glitch made aesthetic
  • Eyes: Deep brown, but they catch light at wrong angles, as if his pupils are offset from themselves
  • Build: Athletic and agile, a traceur's physique — lean muscle, explosive movement capacity
  • Outfit: Urban-tactical parkour gear in blue (z-axis color per Blender defaults) — lightweight hoodie-jacket with depth-shift panels, flexible trousers, grip-soled sneakers, wrist-mounted z-space emitters that phase with his movements
  • Color Palette: Z-axis blue (Blender defaults), ghost whites, deep void blacks — depth rendered visually
  • Distinguishing feature: His shadow doesn't always match his position. It lags, shifts, or occasionally splits into three — a side effect of his z-space instability.

Relationships

CharacterRelationNotes
Fairuz bin OmarBrotherSpektra. Different teams, same blood. They keep tabs on each other across faction lines.
Xenia BalanTeammateMirroring and depth — their combined abilities create spatially impossible combat zones.
Yuichi SaitoTeammateY-axis and z-axis. Together they own every dimension that isn't horizontal.
Venla LinjamaCommanderVenla's vectors give Zaidan's depth-shifting strategic direction.

Abilities

Passive — Flicker

20% chance to negate ranged damage. Rapid direction changes create afterimages that confuse enemy targeting.

Tactical (1) — Depth Feint

Projects two false shadows and scrambles his hitbox for 3s. Enemy tracking is redirected to shadows. Can teleport to a shadow on recast.

Core (2) — False Perception

Distorts Z-depth of a zone. Enemies suffer aim lag, reduced accuracy, and curved projectiles. Allies gain 25% evasion vs ranged attacks.

Special (3) — Parallax Drift

Rapidly phases across three Z-layers. Shadow attacks deal 50% damage and apply Depth Corrupt. Can swap positions with shadows.

Ultimate (4) — z-Split

Fractures the battlefield into three desynced depth planes. Enemies can't coordinate or support. Zaidan traverses freely and all abilities are uncapped by cooldowns during the split. Collapse pulls enemies to the center.

Trivia

  • Name origin: "Zaidan" is named after a secondary school classmate of the creator. Middle name "Reza" and surname "Habchi" come from Isabelle Rezazadeh (electronic artist Rezz) and Hicham Habchi (@pyroowdaily), one of the creator's favourite concept artists. The full initials "ZHR" reference the zenithal hourly rate, a term from astronomy describing the number of meteors an observer would see in an ideal sky, a nod to Zaidan's cosmic, space-warping abilities.
  • "Parallax" is the visual effect where objects shift relative position based on the observer's viewpoint — perfectly describing Zaidan's depth-manipulation abilities. Earlier drafts used "Zenith."
  • Blender z-axis blue is his signature colour, completing the RGB axis trio with Xenia (red) and Yuichi (green).
  • "z fighting" is both a rendering bug (z-buffer conflict) and Zaidan's combat style name. The pun is structural.
  • Traceur background — he was a professional parkour athlete before the ghost code incident. The movement skills transferred; the spatial instability was a bonus.
  • Skilled artist — his sketches often feature impossible depth perspectives that normal artists can't achieve. He literally sees in z-space.

Goals

  1. Stabilise his code — the ghost code incident made him powerful and unstable. The headaches are getting worse. He needs to understand what happened before it gets worse.
  2. Stay connected to Fairuz — different teams, different paths, same family. Zaidan makes sure the distance doesn't become permanent.
  3. Map the z-space — the depth dimension he phases through is not empty. There are things in there. He's sketching what he finds.
  4. Keep moving — a traceur doesn't stop. Zaidan's philosophy is momentum — in combat, in life, in the space between spaces.
