//Quentin Garritsen
Quentin Garritsen
"Mass bends. And so will they."
▸Backstory
A gravity-threaded tyrant of the spatial plane. Quentin's body is laced with starfield shaders that ripple across his cloak, and a neural lens that never stops scanning. When idle, he levitates — not out of power, but out of habit. Reality is his to compress, redirect, and collapse.
▸Personality
Quentin bends gravity for a living and approaches everything else with the same fundamental assumption: all forces can be redirected if you understand their mechanics. He is cerebrally confident — the kind of person who enters a room knowing exactly how much everything in it weighs.
This is not arrogance. It's a form of extreme competence that looks like arrogance from the outside. Quentin has done the math. He knows what his abilities can and cannot do. He operates precisely within those limits, and he pushes them methodically, one decimal place at a time.
At 20, he's still young enough that the confidence occasionally outruns the execution. His gravity wells are precise; his social skills are not. He cares about his teammates — genuinely, deeply — but expresses it through mission-critical calculations rather than emotional availability.
He levitates when idle. This is unconscious. He doesn't notice he's doing it until someone points at his feet.
▸Appearance
Inspired by Doctor Strange (Marvel). Quentin's design is cosmic authority — gravitational distortion fields, starfield-laced fabric, and the visual weight of someone who bends space around himself.
- ▪Hair: Sandy brown, naturally tousled, floating slightly at the tips due to ambient gravitational distortion
- ▪Eyes: Grey-blue with faint starfield patterns visible in the iris during ability use
- ▪Build: Average height, lean — unremarkable until you notice the air around him bends
- ▪Outfit: Floor-length cloak with embedded starfield shaders that ripple like deep space, neural lens headpiece that provides constant gravitational data, tactical suit underneath with atomic-frequency emitters at the wrists
- ▪Color Palette: Cosmic purples, deep space blacks, stellar white accents — like wearing the void
- ▪Distinguishing feature: He levitates. Always. The ground under Quentin shows faint compression marks, as if gravity is heavier there even when his feet aren't touching it.
▸Relationships
| Character | Relation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Genzo Kazetani | Teammate | Speed and gravity — push and pull. Their combined abilities are devastating. |
| Hitomi Satoru | Teammate | She heals; he controls. Complementary cosmic forces. |
| Estel de la Victoria | Commander | Both channel cosmic energy. Estel sees the future; Quentin shapes the present. |
| Felix Francesco Sawit | Strategist | Terrain and gravity. Felix raises the ground; Quentin bends everything above it. |
| Rayner Garritsen | Father | Codename Vinculum. Intelligence operative. Quentin's analytical precision is inherited. |
▸Abilities
Passive — Lagrange Core
Quentin gains enhanced stability. Immune to knockbacks and falls. 10% cooldown reduction when grounded for 5s. Every third ability cast creates a mini black hole that pulls nearby enemies for 1s.
Tactical (1) — Singularity Mine
Deploys a delayed gravity trap. Arms in 2s, then explodes, pulling enemies inward. If placed near walls, creates a gravity rift that slows projectiles passing through.
Core (2) — Orbital Weight
Locks an enemy in a gravity well. Target becomes slowed by 60% for 4s. If target is airborne, they are slammed down. Can be redirected mid-flight with recall.
Special (3) — Event Horizon
Unleashes a wave of crushing force. Knocks back all enemies in a cone. Allies gain temporary anti-gravity — jump boost and hover. Enemies hit are grounded for 2s.
Ultimate (4) — Cosmic Collapse
Summons a massive singularity that pulls all enemies toward the center over 4s. Ends with a supernova burst that deals AoE damage. Applies Slow + Vulnerability to all survivors.
▸Trivia
- ▪Name origin: "Quentin" references Quentin Tarantino — the filmmaker known for bending narrative rules the way Quentin bends gravitational ones. "Quentin" is also Latin for "fifth." Surname "Garritsen" is taken from DJ Martin Garrix (Martijn Gerard Garritsen).
- ▪"Signus" is the final iteration of many aliases: Graviton → Aster → Qubit → Quantus → Signus. The name references Cygnus (Latin for "swan," a constellation), connecting him to the cosmic theme.
- ▪Unconscious levitation is both a character detail and a combat tell. When Quentin's feet touch the ground, he's concentrating everything into a single point. Something devastating is about to happen.
- ▪Doctor Strange inspiration is most visible in his cloak and gravitational aesthetics — but where Strange bends reality through magic, Quentin does it through physics. He'd insist on the distinction.
▸Goals
- ▪Compress further — Cosmic Collapse is his ceiling. He wants to create a singularity dense enough to bend time, not just space. The math says it's theoretically possible.
- ▪Connect better — he cares about his team. He expresses it poorly. He's aware of both facts and is working on the second one.
- ▪Understand the Lagrange Core — his passive ability generates gravitational nodes at mathematical equilibrium points. He didn't design this. It happens naturally. That fascinates and concerns him.
- ▪Honour the fifth — Quentin means "fifth." He is the third member of a five-person team. The numerology doesn't add up. He's sure that matters.
