Combat Flow
Four-slot loadout, momentum system, and tactical engagement styles.
//Combat Mechanics — System Overview
The combat system in nu-Eden: Sundered Skies is built on three pillars: weapon mastery, character abilities, and momentum-driven flow. Every encounter is a puzzle with multiple valid solutions.
▸Weaponry & Loadout
Operatives carry a standard four-slot loadout. Each weapon tracks handling, damage falloff, and special properties.
Standard Loadout Slots
| Slot | Design Role | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | Heavy-hitting specialized firearms | Railguns, Gauss Rifles, Pulse Carbines |
| Secondary | Sidearms and close-range options | Energy Pistols, Shotguns, Revolvers |
| Melee | Close-quarters tools | Energy Blades, Vibro-Knives, Plasma Axes |
| Utility | Gadgets and tactical equipment | EMP Grenades, Drones, Hacking Devices |
Elemental Affinities
The combat engine uses a six-element system for type-matchup bonuses:
- ▪Kinetic: Strong vs Unshielded. Weak vs Armored.
- ▪Thermal: Plasma weapons. Strong vs Organic targets.
- ▪Cryo: Tactical crowd control. Freezes targets.
- ▪Electric: Arc rifles. Strong vs Mechanical/Shielded.
- ▪Corrosive: Acid rounds. Strong vs Heavy Armor.
- ▪Void: Raw Maborite energy. High damage, high risk.
▸Momentum System
Combat rewards unbroken momentum. Maintaining a "Flow State" builds Focus, which can be spent on tactical advantages.
Focus Actions
- ▪Bullet Time: Spend Focus to slow time and aim precisely.
- ▪Instant Reload: Bypass reload animations in the middle of a chain.
- ▪Ability Flash: Reset a cooldown or overcharge an ability.
Momentum Multipliers
| Action | Bonus |
|---|---|
| Kill Chain | +15 Focus per kill (3+ kills) |
| Mobility Kill | +25 Focus (kill while wall-running or jumping) |
| Style Kill | +20 Focus (environmental hazard or melee finisher) |
▸Tactical Engagement Styles
Three core approaches are viable in any encounter:
- ▪Aggressive: High momentum, close-range chain kills. Best for Grunts.
- ▪Tactical: Cover usage, ability combos, and verticality. Best for Elites.
- ▪Stealth: Silenced weapons, takedowns, and hacking. Best for Infiltration.
