nu-Eden: Sundered Skies
//Ezra Asimov
Ezra Asimov
"Lines of code. Chains of fate."
▸Backstory
A Draconian defector turned cyber-specialist. Ezra hacks the future at its root — fuelled by loyalty to his ideals and a fierce desire to protect his brother Ilya Asimov (Tesserae) from a city that chews up prodigies. His abilities are themed around escalating Linux destruction — from fork bombs to root-level purges.
▸Personality
Ezra thinks in systems — code, logic trees, dependency chains. He sees the world as architecture with exploitable flaws, and he has spent his entire life finding them. First in the Draconian state that raised him, then in the corporate machinery of nu-Eden, and now in the battlefield systems he dismantles for nERF.
He is intense, focused, and quietly furious at a world that treats brilliance as a resource to be extracted. The Draconian state identified his talent early and tried to mould him into an asset. Ezra became an asset for the other side instead.
His relationship with Ilya is his anchor — his older brother is the one person Ezra would burn every system to protect. That protectiveness extends unevenly to his teammates: he cares about Metanoia, but his loyalty to Ilya is absolute and occasionally alarming.
Madeline Ellis helps him process the trauma he carries from his defection. He doesn't talk about it easily, but he trusts her enough to try.
▸Appearance
Inspired by Server (Project Divider) and Sova (Valorant). Ezra's design is digital insurgent — clean lines, hacker aesthetic, functionality over form.
- ▪Hair: Short-cropped silver, buzzed at the sides — optimised for headset compatibility
- ▪Eyes: Sharp grey, often half-hidden behind a translucent HUD visor
- ▪Build: Wiry and quick, built for evasion rather than confrontation
- ▪Outfit: Modified Draconian defector's coat stripped of insignia, covered in custom patches and encrypted data-strip lining. Tactical gloves with holographic keystroke projectors. Lightweight boots.
- ▪Color Palette: Steel grey, electric blue, black — cipher aesthetics
- ▪Distinguishing feature: A series of faint circuit-trace scars along his forearms — residual marks from the Draconian neural-tap training he endured as a child
▸Relationships
| Character | Relation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ilya Asimov | Older brother | Tesserae. The person Ezra would crash every system to protect. |
| Madeline Ellis | Teammate | She helps him process trauma. Her illusions and his hacks create devastating synergy. |
| Debra Aviles | Teammate | Kinship of resistance — Debra's hacktivism and Ezra's defection share the same root. |
| Valentin Asimov | Father | Codename Nullptr. Cybersecurity expert. The source of both brothers' technical aptitude. |
| Winona Tenenbaum | Strategist | Winona rescued him during his defection. He owes her his freedom. |
▸Abilities
Passive — Protocol Branching
Every 3rd ability cast generates an autonomous Protocol Subroutine — a mini-attack like a shock pulse, decoy echo, or firewall barrier.
Tactical (1) — Fork Bomb
Injects recursive loops into up to 3 enemies, causing UI spam, aim drift, and vulnerability to multi-target effects. Recasting spreads the bomb to nearby already-debuffed enemies.
Core (2) — Random Override
Launches a beam of chaotic cyber energy that scrambles enemy cooldowns and disables passives on synthetic targets.
Special (3) — Chmod-777
Overrides battlefield permissions in a zone — allies gain extra ability charges and bypass restrictions; enemies have passives disabled and become vulnerable to CC.
Ultimate (4) — No Preserve Root
Executes a root-level purge: enemies suffer input delay, full cooldown wipe, vision distortion, and paralysis. Allies gain bonus charges and cooldown acceleration.
▸Trivia
- ▪Name origin: First name from Ezra Bridger (Star Wars Rebels) — the young Jedi who fought against an empire. Also a Biblical scribe. Surname "Kasparov" comes from Garry Kasparov, the chess grandmaster — earlier drafts used "Misko" (guitarist Alexandr Misko) and "Asimov" (Isaac Asimov, sci-fi author).
- ▪Linux-themed abilities are deliberate — Fork Bomb, Chmod-777, and No Preserve Root are all real Linux commands/concepts, reframed as combat abilities. Ezra fights with the tools he hacked with.
- ▪Draconian defector — the specifics of his extraction remain classified. Winona was involved. He doesn't discuss it.
- ▪Father Valentin (codename Nullptr) is a cybersecurity expert. Both sons inherited his affinity for systems — Ezra through code, Ilya through different means.
▸Goals
- ▪Protect Ilya — above all else. His brother is on a different team but never out of mind. Ezra monitors, plans contingencies, and worries constantly.
- ▪Dismantle the Draconian system — he escaped it. Others haven't. The code that caged him is still running somewhere.
- ▪Earn his freedom — defecting gave him physical freedom. Psychological freedom requires more work. Madeline helps, but the scars are deep.
- ▪Escalate — Ezra's abilities scale with ambition. Fork Bomb is annoying. No Preserve Root is catastrophic. He's wondering what comes after root.
