▸Backstory

A former seismic engineer turned stone-bound controller. After a near-fatal Maborite incident collapsed the tunnels he was surveying, Fabian underwent emergency petrification therapy — a last-resort procedure that fused mineral compounds with his body. Now partially rock, he controls terrain with geologist's precision. His brother Fairuz serves on Team Spektra.

▸Personality

Fabian is the steadying weight of Retronyx. Where Tristan is fury and Renata is rhythm, Fabian is patience — geological patience, the kind that moves continents by refusing to yield. He speaks deliberately, thinks before acting, and when he acts, the ground moves with him.

He does not panic. He does not rush. He understands that stone was once something else — molten, volatile, chaotic — and that pressure and time made it something permanent. He sees himself the same way.

His relationship with his brother Fairuz is complicated by distance and faction. Fairuz chose Spektra. Fabian did not.

Inspired by The Thing (Fantastic Four) and Mauga (Overwatch 2), Fabian's design treats mass and geological force as a form of protection.

Fabian's design draws from basalt armor plating and magnetic tethers. His partially petrified body is both his strength and his aesthetic — organic musculature layered with mineral deposits.

Passive — Tectonic Memory

Fabian passively maps geological data around him. Enemies standing on stone or earth surfaces are revealed on his minimap. Destroying terrain generates rock shards that orbit Fabian, granting minor armour.

Tactical (1) — Fault Line

Slams the ground, creating a linear fissure. Enemies caught in the line are staggered and slowed. The fissure persists as difficult terrain.

Core (2) — Monolith Wall

Raises a massive stone pillar. Can be used as cover, a platform, or a battering ram if pushed forward. Allies on top gain elevation advantage.

Special (3) — Petrify

Targets an enemy and begins turning them to stone over several seconds. Fully petrified enemies are immobilised and take increased damage from the next hit.

Ultimate (4) — Continental Surge

Fabian triggers a massive geological upheaval, reshaping the terrain in a wide area. Stone walls erupt, the ground shifts, and enemies are displaced. The new terrain persists for an extended duration.

• ▪Name origin: "Fabian" was originally "Florian" before being renamed during Wave 1. His codename "Monolith" references the immovable stone pillar — fitting for his Rock-type abilities.
• ▪Team etymology: Retronyx = Renata + Tristan + onyx — onyx being a stone, tying into Fabian's geological theme.
• ▪Handle: @urfkwake — a misspelling of "earthquake", which Renata insists he chose ironically.
• ▪Petrification therapy is an experimental last-resort procedure. Fabian is one of the few successful cases. Most subjects don't survive the fusion.
