nu-Eden: Sundered Skies
//Conrad McGuire-Sun
Conrad McGuire-Sun
"I've seen how this ends. Six times. I'm still here."
▸Backstory
Conrad is the sixth surviving version of himself — a time-fractured operative carrying the weight of five collapsed timelines. Each past iteration sacrificed itself to correct a divergence point, and Conrad carries fragmented memories of every death. He leads Team Lumicon not because he's the strongest, but because he's the only one who knows exactly how many ways everything can go wrong.
A lone crash survivor turned operative of nERF, Conrad is a temporal anomaly sustained by maborite-induced interference. He perceives reality as a shifting lattice of probabilities, timelines, and vectors, granting him localized control over time and space.
His relationship with Lyndsey Park (Tesserae) spans every timeline — from childhood friends to parasocial rivals, from soldier and mentor to strategists and survivors. Their dynamic across the seven arcs forms one of nu-Eden's central emotional throughlines.
▸Personality
Conrad is brash, unpredictable, and obsessively analytical — a temporal anomaly who perceives reality as a probability space rather than a fixed state. He is simultaneously a massive risk-taker and a calculated overthinker, and this contradiction sits at the core of his character.
His genius-level intellect manifests as an obsession with quantum mechanics and probability theory. He speaks fluently in scientific jargon, brings up obscure physics topics in casual conversation, and is fundamentally incapable of small talk. He is socially awkward but kind-hearted — he genuinely cares about his teammates and channels his abilities into team strategy, even when his attempts at connection come across as stilted or tangential.
His humor, optimism, and sun-bright bravado are coping mechanisms — masks over a relentless fear of inevitability. If he ever stops calculating, the apocalypse will finally settle into place. His voice is youthful, energetic, tinged with hidden exhaustion.
Internally, Conrad is split between two personas: Xoris (the bold, dice-rolling risk-taker) and Xenos (the ordered, cautious overthinker). He constantly oscillates between impulsive action and paralytic analysis, which can frustrate teammates who see him hesitate at critical moments — or leap before anyone else is ready.
▸Appearance
Inspired by August (Project Divider), as well as Neku Sakuraba and Sho Minamimoto (The World Ends With You). Conrad's design carries a unified temporal-glitch aesthetic — fragmented visual trails, clock motifs in his UI elements, and a tactical outfit that shifts between timelines.
- ▪Hair: Messy and sun-bleached with asymmetrical cut; light brown, rarely styled, strands perpetually falling over his forehead
- ▪Eyes: Bright amber with an occasional temporal glitch effect — a double-image shimmer when his powers flare
- ▪Build: Lanky and awkward, suggesting introversion
- ▪Outfit: Urban streetwear fused with tactical gear — a weathered bomber jacket in orange-to-yellow gradient, compression shirt with glowing circuit patterns, cargo pants with holsters and tool loops, high-top sneakers with reinforced plating
- ▪Accessories: Wrist-mounted temporal device with holographic display, dog tags, headphones around neck
- ▪Color Palette: Yellows, oranges, whites, with black and gray accents — sun theme, optimism, temporal energy
- ▪Silhouette: Lean and dynamic, emphasis on verticality and motion
- ▪Casual: Baggy cargo pants, graphic tees with physics puns, worn sneakers, occasional lab coat
▸Relationships
| Character | Relation | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Lyndsey | Central bond | Crush, ex, mentor, and partner across every timeline. They are not opposites — they are inversions. The emotional throughline of nu-Eden. | | Lydia | Teammate | Team Lumicon. Calls him "Conman." | | Yumiko | Teammate | Team Lumicon. Calls him "Radcon." | | Clement | Commander | Lumicon's commanding officer. Conrad calls him "Clem." | | Dakota | Strategist | Lumicon's strategist. Conrad calls her "Kota." | | Damon | Father | Diplomatic envoy, callsign Yonder. Commander of Team Spektra. | | Kizuna | Antagonist | The story's anti-Conrad. Spektra's leader and Lumicon's arc antagonist. | | Tristan | Ally | Conrad calls him "Tris." Both are chaotic, but Tristan's fury is more direct while Conrad's is more calculated. | | Fabian | Ally | Conrad calls him "Fab." Fabian's geological steadiness grounds Conrad's temporal chaos. | | Renata | Ally | Conrad calls her "Ren." | Renata's rhythmic precision complements Conrad's erratic energy. |

▸Abilities
Passive — Temporal Residue
Conrad leaves behind time echoes of his previous positions. Echoes persist for a few seconds and can be detonated to deal damage or rewind Conrad to that position.
Tactical (1) — Chrono Shift
Short-range temporal dash that leaves a time fracture at the origin point. Enemies near the fracture are briefly slowed as time distorts around them.
Core (2) — Paradox Lock
Marks an enemy. After a delay, the target is pulled back to their position from several seconds ago, undoing their movement and repositioning.
Special (3) — Timeline Collapse
Creates a zone where time flows differently. Allies inside gain accelerated cooldowns and movement speed. Enemies experience input delay and slowed animations.
Ultimate (4) — Sixth Iteration
Conrad summons echoes of all five previous versions of himself. For a brief window, all six act independently — attacking, supporting, and controlling the battlefield. When the effect ends, all echoes collapse into Conrad, healing him and resetting his ability cooldowns.
Parkour Integration
- ▪Rewind failed jumps without losing momentum
- ▪Slow time to extend wall-run duration
- ▪Create temporal "checkpoints" mid-air for recovery
▸Trivia
- ▪Name origin: "Conrad" comes from Conrad Centennial, a hotel in Singapore — continuing the hotel/station naming convention shared with Dakota and Westin. Also a nod to one of the members of the music duo Confetti. Surname "Sun" is a pun on "sunder" (☀️). His Korean given name Nam-jun (남준) references Kim Nam-joon (RM of BTS). Korean surname Seon (선) derives from Seo Chang-bin (Stray Kids) with an extra "n" — write it in Hangul and cover the top half, and it reads "LOL."
- ▪Team etymology: Lumicon = Lydia + Yumiko + Conrad
- ▪Development name: Originally called "Cade" before being renamed to Conrad during Wave I of development.
- ▪Callsign history: Xenos was preceded by Xorism reanalysed as "Six" + "XOR" → "6xor." Also Sixor, XOR-6, and Qubit.
- ▪Caffeine dependence: Fueled by copious amounts of coffee and energy drinks.
- ▪Secret hobby: Baking elaborate pastries — precise measurements are calming for his probability-obsessed brain.
- ▪Classical music: Listens to Bach for concentration despite his tsubi club association.
- ▪Always carries a notebook filled with equations, probability charts, and scientific scribbles.
- ▪Surprisingly clumsy — accident-prone due to lack of focus on his physical surroundings.
- ▪Multilingual: Fluent in Korean, German, and English. Social awkwardness extends to all languages.
▸Goals
Conrad fights not because he believes in victory, but because he has seen too many endings to accept the wrong one. His overarching goals across the narrative:
- ▪Prevent timeline collapse — stabilize the fractures left by his five previous iterations before temporal decay renders him obsolete
- ▪Protect Team Lumicon — keep Lydia, Yumiko, Clement, and Dakota alive across every possible branch
- ▪Resolve the Lyndsey equation — their relationship spans seven sins and seven virtues, and Conrad knows it cannot remain unresolved without consequences for both timelines
- ▪Confront Kizuna and Spektra — not as enemies, but as mirrors offering incompatible futures
- ▪Find out what happens at iteration seven — each use of his powers advances an unseen internal clock, and when it reaches zero, something ends: Conrad, the timeline, or the universe
