nu-Eden: Sundered Skies
//Tariq al-Nassar
Tariq al-Nassar
"War is the ultimate test of any system. If your system can't survive war, it doesn't deserve to survive at all."
▸Backstory
Tariq al-Nassar is the Director of Arcanis Industries — the conglomerate that manufactures the weapons, military hardware, and logistical infrastructure underpinning every armed conflict in nu-Eden. He doesn't think he's fuelling wars. He thinks he's maintaining equilibrium.
Arcanis Industries is the backbone of nu-Eden's military-industrial complex. Every bullet fired, every mech deployed, every supply chain that feeds The Triad, C.I.D.E, and nERF alike ultimately traces back to Arcanis Industries contracts. Tariq al-Nassar represents the final arc — Season 7's Tribula — the culmination of wrath unleashed when every other sin has been exhausted.
▸Personality
Tariq is the last Director for a reason. Not because he's the weakest — because he's the most patient.
Every other sin exhausts itself. Gluttony consumes. Lust consumes. Sloth decays. Envy cannibalises. Greed hoards until there's nothing left to take. Pride breaks when confronted with failure. But wrath? Wrath waits. It watches every other system fail, catalogues what survived, and then arrives with the invoice.
His Ground/Metal dual type tells the truth about him: he is the earth and the weapons pulled from it. Tariq al-Nassar doesn't create conflict — he creates the conditions where conflict is inevitable, then sells the means to prosecute it. Every side of every war in nu-Eden carries Arcanis Industries hardware. This isn't a contradiction. It's a business model. It's also wrath refined into something so structural it no longer looks like anger.
Tariq speaks softly. He doesn't shout. He doesn't grandstand. He presents cost-benefit analyses where the cost is human life and the benefit is shareholder returns, and he does it with the serene confidence of a man who has confused arithmetic with morality. His wrath isn't hot — it's geological. It moves slowly, crushes everything in its path, and doesn't register individual suffering as data worth collecting.
The Bulwark class is darkly appropriate — Tariq doesn't attack, he endures. He has survived every internal Board power struggle, every Triad offensive, every nERF campaign, simply by being too essential to remove. You can't destroy the arms dealer without destroying the arms, and nu-Eden cannot function without arms.
▸Appearance
Tariq is inspired by General Hux (Star Wars). His design is utilitarian authority — the visual language of military power rendered as fashion.
- ▪Hair: Silver-grey, cropped military-short — the only vanity Tariq permits himself is the discipline of its maintenance
- ▪Eyes: Steel grey, deep-set, with the evaluating focus of someone who has looked at battlefields and seen only logistics problems
- ▪Build: Broad, dense, heavy — Bulwark typing expressed in physiology. Tariq is built like the armoured vehicles Arcanis produces: low centre of gravity, designed to absorb impact
- ▪Outfit: Military-cut overcoat over industrial workwear — not a uniform, but close enough that the distinction is academic. Arcanis insignia on the breast. Steel-toed boots.
- ▪Color Palette: Gunmetal grey, earth brown, matte black — the palette of hardware
- ▪Distinguishing feature: The hands. Tariq's hands are enormous, scarred, and calloused — he still tests Arcanis prototypes personally. The Director of the military-industrial complex still knows how to field-strip a rifle.
▸Relationships
| Character | Relation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| nERF (Season 7) | Final opposition | The Tribula arc — the last season. Every surviving nERF operative faces Arcanis Industries. Wrath is the final exam. |
| Otis Goldman | Key partner | CryoVault funds what Arcanis Industries builds. The financial and military arms of The Board are inseparable. Tariq al-Nassar respects Otis Goldman's numbers. Otis Goldman respects Tariq al-Nassar's results. |
| Ryutaro Shinoda | Board President | Tariq al-Nassar is the The Board member Ryutaro Shinoda relies on most and trusts least. Wrath in the hands of a patient man is the most dangerous weapon NexTech doesn't manufacture. |
| Ulrich Larsson | Customer/rival | Malachite Triad buys Arcanis Industries weapons. Tariq al-Nassar sells to them. This is not a contradiction. It is precisely the point. |
▸Leadership & Arcanis Industries
Tariq's Ground/Metal typing and Wrath make him the most volatile force on the Board—a military industrial director whose strategic domain is destruction and dominance through overwhelming force. Where other directors manipulate systems (Vera, Qinyi), resources (Otis), or information (Quincy), Tariq builds weapons. His Wrath doesn't need to be explosive; it can be cold, calculated, patient—but it is always, fundamentally, about the readiness and willingness to obliterate any opposition.
As sponsor of Neumora, Tariq al-Nassar controls the biological integration layer that connects human consciousness to corporate infrastructure. This isn't just medical technology—it's the weaponization of bodies themselves. Combined with his co-operation of Credisys enforcement, Arcanis Industries manufactures the force multiplier that makes nu-Eden's hierarchy not just psychological or financial, but biologically encoded. His role on The Board is the most militaristic: while other directors compete for leverage, Tariq al-Nassar maintains the credible threat of violence that reminds everyone why cooperation within The Board is preferable to competition. His relationship with Otis Goldman (who owns the resources) and Belinda Wong (who enforces the law) creates the military-industrial-judicial complex that ensures the entire system remains stable through an implicit threat of force.
▸Conglomerate — Arcanis Industries
| Domain | Detail |

| Shared Systems | Neumora, Credisys |
| Opposing Team | Avanza (S7 — Ira) |
▸Trivia
- ▪Name origin: "Tariq" (طارق) means "one who knocks at the door" or "morning star" in Arabic — the name of the general Tariq ibn Ziyad who led the Umayyad conquest of Iberia. "al-Nassar" derives from "nasr" (نصر), meaning "victory." His name literally means "the victorious one who arrives." For the final arc villain, this is a promise.
- ▪The significant event: Season 7's plot device. Not a person, place, or thing — an event. The culmination of every unresolved conflict. Tariq doesn't cause the event. He ensures every participant is armed for it.
- ▪Last man standing: Tariq is positioned as the final Director because wrath is the sin that survives all others. When everything else has been tried and failed, violence remains.
▸Goals
- ▪Maintain Arcanis's indispensability — as long as conflict exists, Arcanis exists. Tariq doesn't need to win wars. He needs wars to exist. The distinction is everything.
- ▪Outlast every other Director — patience is Tariq's truest weapon. Let them scheme and fall. The arms dealer survives the war.
- ▪Deliver the final arc — Season 7's Tribula is the reckoning. Every bullet ever manufactured, every weapon ever sold, every conflict ever fuelled converges. Tariq doesn't fear this. He's been preparing for it since the beginning.
