//Geography

nu-Eden is Earth's last megacity—a hyper-capitalistic vertical metropolis built directly atop some of the richest maborite deposits on the planet. The city doesn't sprawl horizontally; it ascends and descends, a three-dimensional labyrinth of corporate towers, residential blocks, industrial zones, and subterranean warrens stacked with economic and social precision.

Above, the sky is shattered. The Sundering fractured reality itself centuries ago, leaving the heavens a kaleidoscopic wound of fractured light, void-rifts, and intermittent dimensional bleeding. A shimmering lunar ring—the pulverized remnants of the moon—orbits overhead, a constant reminder of catastrophe.

Beyond nu-Eden's fortified walls, the world is hostile and unstable. The Sundering's aftereffects ravaged the outlying territories, transforming them into the Interstice—a vast volcanic desert where reality becomes unreliable, maborite storms rage unpredictably, and only the desperate, exiled, or insane venture. Survivors and refugees from the Empire of Draconis huddle in scattered settlements, reverting to primitive survival strategies and bartering for scavenged pre-collapse technology.

Vertical City Structure

nu-Eden exists in three distinct layers, each representing a different stratum of society:

  1. The Cloud (Altitude: +500m) — Corporate penthouses, executive transit hubs, pristine air. Only accessible to the ultra-wealthy and politically connected.
  2. The Stacks (Altitude: 0–200m) — Commercial zones, middle-class residential blocks, regulated corporate offices. Life here is "comfortable" if you maintain your merit score.
  3. The Heap (Altitude: -200m and below) — Industrial sectors, manufacturing plants, maintenance tunnels, worker housing. Urban decay beneath the Stacks, where regulated society gives way to the lawless deep.

The Grid

The Grid is nu-Eden's network of transit and infrastructure that connects the Cloud, the Stacks, and the Heap. Mag-rails, freight elevators the size of city blocks, maintenance corridors, and data conduits form the circulatory system of the city. Officially neutral ground; in reality, a hotbed for espionage, smuggling, and unregistered mabtech experimentation.

The Hollows

The deepest zones beneath the Heap, where maborite proximity destabilizes local physics. Reality becomes unstable; few venture here and fewer return. The Hollows contain the Maborite Wellspring, temporal loops, dimensional rifts, and the wreckage of failed corporate experiments.

Sectors & Zones

nu-Eden is divided into seven corporate-controlled sectors, each with its own aesthetic, culture, and function:

The Hollows: The Unmapped Deep

Beneath the Heap lies the Hollows—a sprawling, labyrinthine network of:

  • Abandoned pre-Sundering infrastructure (subways, basements, sewer systems, forgotten bunkers)
  • Black markets trading in untraceable goods, black-market nanite scrubbers, and contraband tech
  • Makeshift settlements of exiles, refugees, and those who've "voluntarily" evaded the system
  • Resistance bases, hidden command posts, and guerrilla strongholds
  • Pockets of maborite seepage that destabilize the ground, creating sinkholes and dimensional anomalies

This is where the nERF (nu-Eden Resistance Force) makes its home. The Hollows are perpetually dangerous—unstable architecture, unpredictable hazards, territorial syndicates, and rogue AIs all vie for control. Yet they represent humanity's last enclave of true freedom from corporate oversight.

The Sundering's Scar

The sky itself is a constant reminder of catastrophe. Where once there was atmosphere and stars, now there is a fractured dimensional membrane. Scientists theorize that the Sundering didn't just shatter the moon—it tore a rift in spacetime itself, leaving reality unstable. On clear nights, you can see into other dimensions: glimpses of alien geometries, impossible architectures, and things that defy description.
