nu-Eden: Sundered Skies
//Kizuna Moriuchi
Kizuna Moriuchi
"I don't know you, I'm sorry."
▸Backstory
Kizuna grew up in the neon-drenched undercity of nu-Eden, a self-taught mercenary and VR tactician. She avoided affiliations, taking contracts only when they served her own goals — until an operation revealed her younger sister Karina Moriuchi trapped in a rogue AI system.
Breaking from her detached life, Kizuna destroyed the corrupted network, salvaging what she could of her sister's consciousness. Her actions drew nERF's attention, who offered her a conditional contract: join them — or continue as a hunted rogue. Choosing to operate within nERF, Kizuna now fuses precise VR manipulations and psychic constructs to control battlefields, protect allies, and keep her sister alive — all while maintaining the calculated efficiency of a freelance operative.
Her wolfcut with blunt bangs, streaked red/yellow/purple, multi-helix piercings, spiked choker, and dual hard-light sais mark her as unmistakable on any battlefield.
▸Personality
Kizuna is calibration in human form. Every interaction is a stress test. Every insult is a probe. She meets people as if running a benchmark: how much pressure before they crack, how much hostility before they disengage, how much honesty before they flinch. This isn't cruelty — it's methodology. She survived Syntera Genetics's personality fracture trials (Neumora ego collapse experiments), and the result is someone who can't stop testing because testing is what kept her alive.
She antagonizes Conrad McGuire-Sun specifically because he represents "unearned persistence" — he keeps going without the kind of systematic analysis Kizuna considers necessary. Her hostility toward him is performative but intentional. Every encounter is data.
Post ego-death, she shifted from Sho Minamimoto chaotic energy to a Whiplash band leader — still demanding, still abrasive, but now in service of something. Karina Moriuchi's survival gave her a reason to care about outcomes rather than just measurements.
Her callsign shifted from Tsunagi (to connect) to Kardia (heart). The change maps her arc: from someone who manipulated connections to someone who felt one.
She's 'all of gaming's first "wolfcut antagonist,"' and she wears the aesthetic like it's load-bearing.
▸Appearance
Kizuna was designed entirely from scratch, though she resembles Lucy (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners). Kizuna's design is undercity punk hacker — neon-streaked, pierced, and dressed like the final boss of a cyberpunk VTuber channel.
- ▪Hair: Wolfcut with blunt bangs — streaked red, yellow, and purple. The signature. The statement.
- ▪Eyes: Sharp, scanning, with a faint psychic glow during ability use — the eyes of someone who's already assessed your weaknesses
- ▪Build: Athletic and compact, built for VR tactical movement and close-quarters psychic combat
- ▪Outfit: Tactical punk — spiked choker, multi-helix ear piercings, armored jacket over a crop top, dual hard-light sai holsters at the hips, fingerless gloves with neural interface contacts. VR tactician gear layered under the punk aesthetic.
- ▪Color Palette: Black, neon red, neon yellow, neon purple — undercity midnight
- ▪Distinguishing feature: The wolfcut. It's not fashion. It's identity. Combined with the piercings and spiked choker, Kizuna looks like she was designed by the undercity itself.
▸Relationships
| Character | Relation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Karina Moriuchi | Younger sister | Team Tesserae. Kizuna destroyed a rogue AI network to salvage Karina's consciousness. Everything she does now is downstream of that choice. |
| Michio Moriuchi | Father | Codename [Shinobi]. Tech R&D lead. Kizuna inherited his systems thinking — and then broke it on purpose. |
| Katsura Moriuchi | Mother | Trapped in the Metaverse during the Sundering. Finding her is an unspoken priority. |
| Conrad McGuire-Sun | Rival (Lumicon) | He represents unearned persistence. She stress-tests him because she can't understand why he keeps going without her methodology. Their dynamic is friction that produces sparks. |
| Nicole Rose Langley | Teammate | Nicole doesn't raise her voice. Kizuna does nothing but. They complement through opposition. |
| Fairuz bin Omar | Teammate | Calls him "Ruz." Both fractured operatives. Fairuz's psycho-recon experience mirrors Kizuna's VR background. |
▸Abilities
Passive — Adrenaline Rush
Casting abilities generates Resonance Fragments (max 6). At max fragments, Kizuna enters an Adrenaline state: gain 20% movement speed and cooldown regeneration. Deploying a Sanctuary Node now grants these buffs to allies, while enemies suffer neural lag (increased ability cooldown).
Tactical (1) — Oxytocin Surge
Fires a psychic tether at an ally or enemy. Ally: grants a "Trust Bond" (overshield + 20% damage mitigation redirected to Kizuna). Enemy: inflicts "Neural Friction" (slows movement + 10% damage taken). Dual tethers cause empathetic resonance, echoing a portion of damage between linked targets.
Core (2) — Serotonin Wall
Deploys a hard-light barrier with adaptive geometry that stabilizes the local psychic field. Default: blocks projectiles and distorts targeting. Inside Sanctuary Node: the wall expands into a dome that muffles sensors and calms incoming kinetic energy, reducing projectile damage by 40%.
Special (3) — GABA Shield
Projects a psychic interference field that inhibits enemy neural firing. Enemies perceive phantom duplicates with 0.25–0.5s input delay. Allies gain "Neural Shielding" (temporary immunity to crowd control). Tethered enemies have their sensory input further throttled.
Ultimate (4) — Dopamine Overload
Activates a full psychic reward-pathway overlay for 8s. Allies gain 30% damage resistance and instant ability refreshes on takedowns. Enemies suffer "Reward Cycle Failure": random inverted controls, disrupted targeting, and phantom objectives. On collapse: enemies suffer a neural crash (stagger), while allies are healed for a percentage of prevented damage.
▸Trivia
- ▪Name origin: Kizuna Ai, the pioneering VTuber. Previous names: Kaelynn → Kaylin → Kizuna. The nickname "Kae" persists from the original name.
- ▪Codename history: Tsunagi (絆 — "to connect") → Kardia (heart). The shift maps her arc from manipulating connections to genuinely feeling one.
- ▪Syntera Genetics test subject: Kizuna survived Neumora personality fracture trials — ego collapse experiments designed to break identity. She came through without losing herself. The stress-testing behavior is learned survival.
- ▪"Gaming's first wolfcut antagonist" — the developer's description. The wolfcut isn't fashion; it's structural to the character concept.
- ▪Handle: @kaezuna — the Kae/Kizuna fusion preserved digitally.
- ▪Honest Trailer nickname: "The Girl Who Doesn't Know You (She's Sorry)"
▸Goals
- ▪Keep Karina Moriuchi compiled — her sister's consciousness was salvaged, not fully restored. Kizuna fights to keep the patch stable.
- ▪Find Katsura Moriuchi — her mother is trapped in the Metaverse. The search is silent and relentless.
- ▪Understand Conrad McGuire-Sun — not befriend him. Understand why unearned persistence works when her own calibrated methodology doesn't always.
- ▪Master Dopamine Overload — the psychic overlay is beautiful and terrifying. She suspects it can rewrite more than perception. She's testing the limits.
