Akihara is the central ward of nu-Eden and the seat of corporate power. The name (明原, "bright field") is ironic — beneath its gleaming corporate towers and immaculate plazas, Akihara is the most tightly controlled district in the city. Every surface is monitored, every transaction logged, every citizen tracked.

Geography

Akihara occupies the geographic centre of nu-Eden, spanning all three vertical layers. The Cloud-level structures here are the tallest in the city — corporate headquarters, Board meeting chambers, and executive residences. At Stacks level, the ward is a dense grid of office blocks, transit hubs, and regulated commercial zones. The Heap beneath Akihara is sealed off more thoroughly than any other ward — corporate secrets buried under layers of reinforced concrete and security protocols.

Key Features

  • The Boardroom — The central administrative complex where the seven Directors meet. A fortified megastructure at Cloud level, accessible only to the highest-clearance individuals.
  • Akihara Central Station — The largest transit hub in the The Grid, connecting all five wards and serving as the primary interchange for mag-rail lines.
  • Corporate Mile — A pristine boulevard of flagship stores, corporate showrooms, and propaganda installations. Reflexio saturation here is at maximum.
  • The Vault — A rumoured sub-level archive containing pre-Sundering records, sealed by the Board and guarded by automated systems.

Culture

Akihara is where the city performs its utopian fantasy. Streets are clean, crime statistics are low (because crimes are reclassified, not prevented), and Reflexio feeds here are relentlessly positive. Residents are high-merit corporate employees who've traded freedom for comfort. The ward's culture is one of polished conformity — deviation is noticed, reported, and corrected.

The nERF avoids Akihara unless absolutely necessary. Surveillance density makes operations nearly impossible.
