nu-Eden: Sundered Skies
//Kurogami (黒神区)
Kurogami Ward
Kurogami is the western ward of nu-Eden, where industry meets the occult. The name (黒神, "black god") is whispered more than spoken — the ward's reputation for maborite experimentation, industrial accidents, and unexplained phenomena keeps casual visitors away. This is where the city's darkest work is done.
▸Geography
Kurogami extends deep into the Heap and Hollows, with only a thin presence at Stacks level. The ward is dominated by massive industrial complexes, maborite refinement facilities, and underground research labs. The deeper you go, the more reality destabilises — Kurogami's lower levels are some of the most maborite-saturated zones in the city.
▸Key Features
- ▪Arcanis Depths — The underground research and weapons development complex. Maborite refineries, illegal experimentation labs, and deep-extraction mining operations. The air shimmers with residual maborite energy.
- ▪The Foundry — A massive industrial zone where raw maborite is processed into refined product. Workers here have the highest mutation rates in the city.
- ▪Qroma Black Gallery — A hidden cultural space where Qroma Alliance conducts its most exclusive art auctions and cultural events. What's traded here isn't always art.
- ▪The Sinkhole — A collapsed section of the Heap where a maborite seep caused a catastrophic structural failure. Now a dangerous shortcut into the Hollows, used by smugglers and nERF operatives.
▸Culture
Kurogami's culture is defined by secrecy and risk. Industrial workers operate under NDAs so severe that violation means immediate exile. The ward's population is transient — workers rotate in and out on contracts, never staying long enough to form attachments. Those who stay too long start showing symptoms: tremors, iridescent veins, whispered conversations with people who aren't there.
The nERF uses Kurogami's industrial chaos as cover for supply runs and maborite acquisition. Team Avanza has the deepest operational knowledge of the ward's labyrinthine underground.
