//Bug — Type

The Bug type represents insectoid traits, hive-mind connections, and biological adaptation. It combines high status-uptime with overwhelming multi-unit pressure.

Mechanics

  • Infestation: Bug abilities apply "Infested" stacks. Each stack reduces the target's resistance to further status effects and occasionally triggers a "burst" of micro-swarm damage.
  • Hive-Mind Sync: When a Bug user is near an ally, they gain "Hive-Mind," granting shared vision and a slight increase in ability recharge speed.
  • Pheromone Tracking: Certain Bug recons can leave pheromone trails that reveal enemy positions to the entire team, even through invisibility.

Design Cues

  • VFX: Chitinous textures, iridescent sheen (beetle-wing style), and clusters of tiny, glowing particle swarms.
  • SFX: Clicking sounds, high-pitched drones, and the skittering of many legs.

Typical Abilities (design template)

  • Passive — Swarm Guard: Being hit releases a small cloud of stinging insects that damages nearby attackers.
  • Tactical (1) — Silk Bind: Launches a sticky strand that slows the target and prevents certain mobility skills.
  • Core (2) — Hive Spike: Projects a chitinous lance that pierces enemies and applies a high dose of Infestation.
  • Special (3) — Pheromone Burst: Releases a cloud that buff allies' speed and marks all enemies within radius.
  • Ultimate (4) — Apex Predator: Transforms or summons a massive swarm that devours targets, healing the user for a portion of the damage dealt.

Synergies & Counters

  • Synergies: Poison (stacks biological debuffs), Dark (hiding within the swarm).
  • Counters: Fire (incinerates swarms), Wind (disperses pheromones and flyers).

VFX & Audio Notes

  • Palette: Iridescent greens, deep purples, and bone-whites. Audio focuses on organic clicks and droning hums.

Example Operatives

  • Phyllis — Fenrir controller; the primary user of early-gen Bug biotechnology.
