Atomic represents concentrated energy and explosive transformations: burst damage, reactive residues, and area interactions that alter terrain or leave hazardous remnants.

Mechanics

  • Decay Stasis: Targets hit by Atomic damage suffer from "Decay," a debuff that reduces their maximum HP temporarily, making them easier to burst down.
  • Fission Bursts: Atomic Destroyers can trigger fission reactions on "decayed" targets, dealing massive AoE damage centered on the enemy.
  • Overcharge Siphon: Standing near Atomic rifts allows the user to become "Overcharged," increasing their ability cast speed at the cost of slight self-damage over time.

Design Cues

  • VFX: Toxic greens, blinding whites, and "heat distortion" waves. Particle trails that look like frantic electrons.
  • SFX: Low-frequency Geiger-counter clicks, hums that increase in pitch during wind-ups, and muffled, heavy "crump" sounds for explosions.

  • Passive — Residual Decay: damage from Atomic abilities leaves volatile shards that detonate after a delay.
  • Tactical (1) — Overcharge: next attack detonates with increased AoE and leaves burn field.
  • Core (2) — Reactive Burst: a direct damage ability that converts nearby residues into extra explosions.
  • Special (3) — Radiant Field: area that continuously damages and applies a heat status increasing incoming damage over time.
  • Ultimate (4) — Cataclysm: a large detonation that reshapes minor terrain and applies persistent hazard zones.

Synergies & Counters

  • Synergies: Metal (ricochets), Ground (terrain interactions), Fire (burn stacking).
  • Counters: Water (dampens blast interactions), Shielding (absorbs burst).

VFX & Audio Notes

  • Palette: bright oranges, white-hot cores, smoky residues. Use strong bloom and camera shake for impact; high-frequency percussion for explosions.
