//Rock — Type
Rock is physical, heavy-hitting, and terrain-altering: creates barriers, manipulates cover, and applies persistent slow effects.
▸Attributes
| Element | Damage Type | +ve Status on Self | -ve Status on Target | Affinities | Effective Against | Resistant To |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rock | Physical / Blunt | Unstoppable | Petrified | Boulders, crystals, canyon walls | Fire, Electro, Poison | Fighting, Metal, Ground |
▸Mechanics
- ▪Unstoppable Momentum: Rock Fighters gain a buff that prevents them from being slowed by "Chilled" or "Tangled" statuses while sprinting.
- ▪Petrification: Consecutive Rock hits apply "Petrified" stacks. At max stacks, the target's movement speed is reduced by 80% for 1.5 seconds.
- ▪Terraforming: Rock Bulwarks can summon pillars of stone that block sightlines and projectiles, forcing enemies to reposition or waste time breaking the cover.
▸Design Cues
- ▪VFX: Chunky collisions, flying pebbles, and cracked stone textures. Heavy debris clouds on high-impact hits.
- ▪SFX: Deep earth-rumble soundbeds, stone-on-stone grinding, and satisfying "thuds" for feedback (Dishonored + Titanfall heft).
▸Typical Abilities (design template)
- ▪Passive — Granite Grip: increased stability and knockback resistance when touching the ground.
- ▪Tactical (1) — Shard Launch: fire a cluster of jagged rocks that deal blunt damage and slow enemies.
- ▪Core (2) — Tectonic Stomp: stomp the ground to create a shockwave that displaces enemies and applies a small petrification stack.
- ▪Special (3) — Earth Shield: encase self or an ally in a rock layer that absorbs a significant amount of damage before shattering.
- ▪Ultimate (4) — Mountain's Wrath: summen massive stone monoliths that block passage and deal heavy damage on impact.
▸Synergies & Counters
- ▪Synergies: Metal (ricochets), Ground (terrain dominance), Ice (brittle combos).
- ▪Counters: Fighting (breaks armor/shields), Wind (lift players over barriers), Water (erodes defenses).
▸VFX & Audio Notes
- ▪Palette: slate greys, earthy browns; chunky collision particles, deep gravelly rumbles and heavy impact thuds.
