Ghost is about intangibility, phase shifts, and interaction with perception: phasing through geometry, stealth multipliers, and psychic residue.

Mechanics

  • Intangible Phase: Ghost users can briefly become "Intangible," allowing them to pass through physical barriers but preventing them from dealing direct damage.
  • Haunted Vision: Enemies hit by Ghost attacks become "Haunted," causing them to see flickering decoys of the Ghost player for a short duration.
  • Spectral Chains: Ghost Controllers can tether "haunted" enemies together; damage dealt to one is shared with the other at a reduced rate.

Design Cues

  • VFX: Soft desaturated VFX with spectral trails and translucent overlays. Objects in the environment might slightly "warp" near the Ghost.
  • SFX: Ethereal whispers, muffled echoes, and the sound of distant, distorted wind (Hollow Knight and Control inspirations).

Typical Abilities (design template)

  • Passive — Ethereal Veil: brief invulnerability window after dashing; reduced detectability.
  • Tactical (1) — Phase Step: short-range blink that leaves a decoy or residue.
  • Core (2) — Wraith Shot: projectile that phases through walls and applies lingering haunt.
  • Special (3) — Vanish: becomes invisible and gains increased movement for a short time.
  • Ultimate (4) — Haunting Chorus: applies a wide-area phasing field, causing enemies to drop to reduced hitbox states and become susceptible to true-damage effects.

Synergies & Counters

  • Synergies: Psychic (debuff layering), Wind (mobility combos).
  • Counters: Detection/Class abilities that apply reveal or force-solidify (e.g., Metal or Tech fields).

VFX & Audio Notes

  • Palette: pale greys, cyan glows; wispy particle trails, low-frequency hums and reversed chimes on phase in/out.
