Poison emphasises attrition and weakening: stacks that ramp over time, area contamination, and delayed lethality.

Mechanics

  • Toxic Attrition: "Poisoned" status deals damage that ignores 50% of shield values. It also reduces the effectiveness of incoming heals by 30%.
  • Resilient Buffer: Poison users have a "Resilient" passive that makes them immune to their own (and other) Poison status effects.
  • Cloud Spread: Some Poison abilities create clouds that "stick" to players, causing them to spread the Poison status to their own teammates.

Design Cues

  • VFX: Sickly purple and green gas, bubbling liquid pools, and dripping particle effects.
  • SFX: Hissing gas, wet-squelch audio, and heavy coughing sounds from impacted enemies for visceral feedback.

Typical Abilities (design template)

  • Passive — Venomous Blood: dealing damage to the user has a small chance to apply Poisoned status to the attacker.
  • Tactical (1) — Toxic Dart: fire a silent dart that applies a heavy Poisoned stack.
  • Core (2) — Corrosive Splash: throw a vial of acid that deals initial damage and reduces the target's armor for 4 seconds.
  • Special (3) — Contagion Field: create a cloud of toxic gas that spreads Poisoned status to all inside.
  • Ultimate (4) — Pandora's Box: release a massive cloud of virulent gas that deals heavy damage over time and reduces enemy movement speed.

Synergies & Counters

  • Synergies: Plant (toxin growth), Dark (silent contamination), Water (acidic flows).
  • Counters: Light (purifies toxins), Tech (environmental filtration), normal (biological resistance).

VFX & Audio Notes

  • Palette: sickly purples, neon greens; bubbling gas particles, hissing SFX and wet-squelch audio for impacts.
